A quick hello to all Buck fans. I have been an avid collector of knives for over 20 years (mainly Benchmade, Spyderco and Buck).

Of all the knives that I have owned, I have always coverted the titanium handled version of the 100 with the removable belt clip and screw assembly (I believe that it was the 186).

This knife was (I am sure although never managed to find one) one of the best designs ever for a field folder. With the cutting ability of the 110, strength, weight and looks of the titanium handle and the ability to strip down for cleaning was clearly a work of genius.

I would love to hear from owners how this knife performed in reality and a question to Buck:

Please Please bring it back!!

p.s. I currently looking purchasing the Alpha Dorado (271). What is the general view of this knife.

you can find model 560 which is a 186 without being able to be stripped down pretty readily..

Thanks for the reply. The 560 is a nice looking knife. However, the ability to fully strip down the knife, plus the unique belt clip made the package complete. I guess that Buck got overloaded with knives from users who could not rebuild them.

I'm also looking at the Dorado and hoping that the Calgary market place sees them soon. With getting a couple of folders seized (Buck Northshore, and BM Mini Grip) I'm getting pretty paranoid about bringing any folder across the state line , so I'm trying to buy either locally or at least Canadian. I currently have an Alpha Folding Hunter, and I believe this is a shrunk down version of it. It may be a bit heavy for pocket carry, but if it's anything close to the Alpha, it'll be nice :D For me, I find that the Alpha fits that funny little niche of "nice looking and tough". It fits my hand really well, gets the job done, but at the same time, you kinda don't want to really beat it up because it's so nice looking ;) I would expect the Dorado to be no different. My Buck/Strider 887SBT Police Advocate, on the other hand, is very different. It fits my hand better, but it begs or maybe "dares" you to give it some "real" work. The Dorado is definitely on my "buy" list. But then, so is the 55, ulitimately a Northshore, and then there's that new 889...... ;)
