What are the best Buck folding knives that are reliable enough to be used for self defense if they had to? (Please don't mention guns as they just aren't an option here)

I need a folding knife as fixed blade knives are illegal here. And yes I know I will need to get training.

The classic Buck 110 has a lot going for it, including the fact it's heavy and solid enough to be a clubbing weapon even if you don't have the blade opened. You can pinch the blade/spydy drop the handle to open it one handed too.

Plus it's a classic, so people won't be as likely to see it as a weapon.

Paradigm is also worth a look, maybe the CSAR also. There are 2 versions of the CSAR so look at each of them.

As already mentioned the 110 if you are good with a sheath knife.

I have seen people selling conversions of them to fully automatic opening, but they are pretty pricey.

Mate, if you don't mind me asking, why are you limiting yourself to Buck knives? There are other brands out there that offer excellent affordable options. For instance Ontario has the Rat-1, and Cold Steel has the Voyager line.

If it has to be a Buck, I'd go with one of the Vantage models. Decent blade length, one hand opening.

I agree. There's a lot of companies who specialize in knives for Self Defense. Buck is not one of them. Buck specializes in Hunting knives and EDC knives.
