Best budget field sharpener

I always carry a medium/fine duofold. Lightweight, fast, and easy to use...
Not a bad price either for a sharpening-device that will last you a long long time...

haha that's funny that you mention that company, my Stepdad is the graphic designer that helped make the instruction booklets and the website.... anyways they do make great products. completely forgot about them.... thanks for the reminder!

I'm doing most of my sharpening lately on wet/dry sandpaper (320 grit or higher). That's about $1 per 9" x 11" sheet, and I use ~ 1/3 sheet at a time (3" wide strip). Any firm/hard and relatively smooth surface upon which to lay/wrap the paper will make it work, and a few additional passes on the rough side of my leather belt 'strop' with green or white compound will clean it up nicely. This combination has been doing virtually all of the sharpening & maintenance on my EDC knives, as of late. Simpler really is better. :)

My field kit usually consists of a Fallkniven DC3, a small leather strop loaded on the rough side & bare on the smooth, a couple of small sheets of wet/dry sandpaper and a small cloth loaded with anti-corrosion product (Tuf-Cloth or Frog Lube). Sometimes the DC3 is substituted by a DC4, D3, D4, a DMT XC mini or small ceramic stone and sometimes includes a short ceramic rod or diamond rod if I have a serrated edge with me. I keep a kit in my truck and in my go to packs & bags. Small & simple yet able to perform minor repairs as well as maintain a refined edge. I find that an Altoid tin or small Otterbox works well to hold the kit and can double as a small table top to work on.
