Howdy all!
This week I am involved in clearing out approx. 200 yards of river bottom in East Texas to build a shooting range. I am leading a crew of 6-12 fellow college dudes, the majority of whom have negligible experience with cutlery, especially machete work. Vegetation consists of mixed grapevines, Poison Ivy, Cedar, Oak, Hackberry, Sugarberry, the hated Honey Locust, and a few others I cannot ID. Most trees are 8'' in diameter or less. We have access to Army Surplus (Probably old Ontario or Collins) machetes but need to order a few more tools. We have only one chainsaw. The group already broke a Camillus Carnivore and a Gerber Gator machete, in about five hours of chopping. I normally would use my SYKCO 1311 for this work, but it is at home and about 4 hours away
If anyone can recommend a similar weight and thickness chopper for under $30 I would greatly appreciate it. Only blade I can think of that is even close would be the Tram 14'' Bolo.
