Hello all.
Short time stalking, first time posting. I'm looking to replace my Benchmade Nimravus as an EDC/backpacking fixed blade, and I've also decided to chug some of the Busse cool-aid. I'd like a 3-3.5 inch blade, in INFI (Not looking for a SYKCO or Swamp rat at this point). My limit is around 250. I've been eyeballing that Mean Street 20th Anniversary edition, and it really appeals to me, however, I want to know my options. I appreciate any and all information, and I hope I'm not asking something that has been asked a million times before.
Thanks, Charles.

Charles, Welcome to the forum! At that price point your only choice will be the AMSCG for $227.00, unless you find something on the exchange or possibly eBay.;)

I would second Tom's pick. That would be the perfect choice in that size and price range. If you increased you budget by a hundred, I'd also heartily recommend the SOB. FABULOUS knife (that may not be around much longer), but larger.

You might try your chances at grabbing a Swatmandu by emailing garth and lexi. See the "ganzaa" stickies above.

It's pretty late, but you never know!

(It's a slightly longer blade than what you're looking for)

I'd say it'd depend on how much you use your edc knife.
If only sporadically then AMS will be perfectly fine. But if you use it a lot then I'd say that Active Duty 3,5", Leaner Meaner 4" or Game Warden 3" would be slightly better choice as all three have more substantial and comfortable handles.
With a bit of luck you can find a deal on GW and AD at around your budget, LMS would run at a bit more.

I see Game Wardens pop up in the $250-$300 range pretty regularly on the exchange. Also SAR3s and Magnum Bear Cubs in that range as well. Still I would get an AMS while you can and in the configuration you prefer. It's an awesome blade. Just beware. You will only end up "needing" a bigger Busse. Then one between those 2 sizes. Then you'll need a big chopper. Then you'll want a few variations of your favorite model. Then a Ganza will happen and you'll be sleeping on the couch with only your INFI to keep you warm.

Spoken with a flair that only someone who experienced it firsthand could! ;)

Agreed!!!!..... I'm working hard on avoiding the last part of that comment..... Keeping to the smallest knives, mostly. Keeping things "under the radar" :D

The OP could order the AMS with one or two layers of liners to beef up the handle.

The AMS is a great knife. Also a Active duty. But for EDC the skelly warden is a great knife too if ya can find one.

Basic 4. I love the magnum I have. I have had the B4 skinny but I like the extra beef of the magnum and it slices as well as the skinny because it's thin enough behind the edge. Your budget should allow for a B4 and sheath. The AMS is also nice, it's handle was a little thin to me.

Strongly endorse the Active Duty - you might find a user in your range, or I think I saw a new satin/pink and black G10 AD right near that price. Enjoy the hunt!

BIG Satin Finish Anniversary Mean Street….. :)

Mean street is a good choice...... Try to find something with a shorter handle. More comfortable to wear for an EDC. Long handles will have a tendency to Poke you in the sides. This is not a problem if you can EDC on a dangler. If you're in town, and need to be discreet, you'll be wanting to wear it tucked away under a shirt (perhaps?). Wearing it somewhat at a high ride position may cause the handle to poke you in the ribs ..... Much less so with one of the smaller Busse knives.

I can say so cause I've worn both AMSMO and Rodent 3..... Of these 2 FINE knives..... The R3 is more comfy to wear on a belt....even inside the waistband ( errr.... Check your local laws for EDC )

If you absolutely want INFI, the Game Warden or Active Duty may be the best bet.... Don't know the specs on those knives.
