Was sitting at the computer and this guy was eating my wife's overgrowing Elderberry bushes this afternoon.

TWO PM!!!! Wow. We saw a good # of does this past spring but never seen a buck in this vicinity. When the velvet comes off, I believe that's 6 points. (3 to you Western guys, IIRC.)

Putting the cart before the horse, do I bring my AD, my SAR5 or a Game Warden into the woods with me? ;)

Seriously, I haven't picked up a bow in 20 years. Bear Whitetail II (that thing with 34 different cams) was state-of-the-art back when I had my last bow. I'm wondering if I can get up to speed by November. EEEK! At least they have releases now. Those were just coming on the scene back then.

Start practicin'! That old bow would probably spook roadkill. Lol.

Ha! I used to have a Whitetail II... The bow I have now is pretty old too. I guess the newer stuff is teeny tiny, and shoots much quicker? Idk.

As far as I know, deer haven't changed though... and I nailed plenty of them with the WT-II back then.

I dismantled it and tossed it about 5-6 years ago. Having the limbs sit under tension for that long is pretty bad. It worked well for me back then. I'm just shocked at the difference in equipment. Carbon arrows, better, lighter broadheads, quieter bows (the WTII wasn't quiet at all, FASTER bows, them little peep sights, better rests. It's amazing.

I still need a ton of practice to get to where I need to go. And I need to get to the Archery store soon. LOL

Seriously... Hunters have it easier now. Everything is so much lighter and more lethal. I liked bow hunting, but I just got into going the 870 route. So much easier. 12g slugs make blood trails visible from space :)

I hunt with an Alpine I had when I was younger, bought longer limbs and kept using it. I have killed a mess of deer with it. I love archery hunting, much more challenging and i get greater enjoyment out of it.

This is too funny. My second(after the WTII), and current bow is an Alpine Hunter.

Hahaha that is funny, my bow has gone through alot of changes. Used to use the old metal pins with the plastic colored beads at the end and a hand-me down timberdoodle rest. Now I have a QAD fall away rest and an Octane NXS sight and limb savers (my alpine is a split limb) and string dampners and an probably overpriced stabalizer lol. I still use the same peep though...go figure.

I keep thinking about buyin a different bow like a Mathews or Hoyt...but bows arent as cheap as they used to be by a long shot. Plus I always have a hard time going anywhere and finding a bow that has a 33+ inch draw length. I need to pull back and hold the darn thing before I'll buy any bow and even Basspro with all its stuff doesnt usually carry stuff in that draw length.

The deer behind my house eat apples out of my hand (not really but basically). I could walk up and cut there throats...I don't find "deer hunting" challenging. Now varmits at a LONG RANGE is a different story in my book.

Good luck with them deers!
