I have had a very chap buck knife, it cam in a tin of 2 and has red handles, they have survived bleach, quat, and water with no rust, is it worth it to upgrade with another buck or stay with the proven knife.

quat is very highly concentrated bleach with a few other chemicals but is so small not a big differance

In chemistry, quaternary ammonium cations, also known as quats, are positively-charged polyatomic ions of the structure [NR₄]⁺, where R is an alkyl group, an aryl group or organyl group.

I thought everyone knew that.

😁

I did however proofread my post first.
✌️

You do not want to get it on, skin, eyes, legs, feet, hands, basicly anything you don't want chemichal burns on

I know it does its job of sanitization does a very very good job

I am assuming you are referring to an inexpensive model made of 420HC made in USA? Or made in China 420J2?
If the knife is working for you, that's the one, then.
Buck makes many knives in these steels, so if you want to buy another, you can't go wrong with a lower end model.

I thought he was referring to the leaf they chew in Somalia. I think that’s qat though.

Got a pic of your Buck knife?

I googled before asking the question and got this:

“…the leaves of the shrub Catha edulis which are chewed like tobacco or used to make tea; has the effect of a euphoric stimulant.”

If it came in a tin with another knife it is likely a Chinese made Buck. If your happy with it, why upgrade? Christmas tins at Walmart. But I don’t think they do that anymore.

"cheap" and "inexpensive" are not the same thing.
The Cadillac Sivelle, for example, was "cheap" (basically a rebranded Chevy Citation with extra "luxury" equipment as standard equipment, which were prone to failure, as the electrical system was not really designed for the extra load. Also it was under powered. The "luxury" equipment added a lot of weight. Rust resistance was a  little better than the Chevy Vega ... the car that rusted out on the dealer's air conditioned showroom floor.)
The Sivelle was NOT an inexpensive car. It was however "cheap".

The 37x and 38x offshore Buck Knives do everything the Idaho made 30x knives do, except maybe hold an edge as long ... but still long enough to make it through the day.
They also have the same forever warranty as the Idaho knives.
(the 371 and 373 stockman also have a wider chice of covers, tho you might only find some (stag, for example) on the secondary market.

You can upgrade if you want ... at least the 371/737 to a 301/303 stockman. Those are the only 300 series currently in production in Idaho.
The Buck canoe and trapper patterns are currently only made offshore. No USA made version.

Cheap - (of an item for sale) low in price; worth more than its cost…
