So far the only place I've found it is at Nitro-Pak. Anyone know of any other places that might carry it?

Thanks in advance:)

Got a lead from someone(Thanks BTW:))

Here's a site if anyone else is interested: WWW.freshtracksmaps.com

Fantastic price and they're currently running a special for more $ off:D

(sorry if this should have been placed in gadgets & gear:confused:

Thanks for the link exechobo, I didn't even think to look there!

As far as my choice of filter:

Pur - no longer making "purifiers" in any shape or form, a claim which is questionable anymore. I can no longer get replacement cartridges for my Explorer:mad:

MSR - too rinky dink. Cumbersome to use.

Katadyn - longer cartridge life with care ( by the time I've replaced a couple of cartridges in an Explorer I could have bought a pocket filter for the same cost) , filters equally as well as the others, can be used with ANY container without any extra hoses in your way, heavier (duty) construction than the rest, apparently now owns Pur and has some sorting out to do with their products anyway so I'm not about to get screwed by buying another Pur.

Strabs, I didn't know! The bastids! I guess my current Voyager filter is the last I will put into the Scout. When its done so is PUR. In that case, I will probably get the Katydin too. Its heavy, but I like great equipment. I remember some backpacker reviews of them, but its not on their website. Seems the complaint was the output:effort ratio. Try one before you buy. My wife is adamant about purification over filtration. Oh well, she is a trooper, so we compromise.

Strabs, hope you ahve not committed yet. Try www.half.com. Found them for $132+shipping=142. Worth a check.
They are the best going. Knowing what knives you buy, stay away from the other crap.

Mike

p.s. Goin to Knob Creek??

Oh damn! Thanks for the link Mike, but I already picked one up for $159.00 plus shipping:) Can't win 'em all:rolleyes: Now I need to find a good source for filters now, ...so I can stock up for when water becomes a hot comodity:p

I suppose for what a couple of the ceramic cartridges cost I should put my money towards another Busse so I can just beat the hell out of the water to kill it:D

Looks like I'm gonna miss the mini this fall as I am in a wedding that weekend:( I'm trying to convince him to rent the Bell instead of a stretch Hummer and fly down to the show for the reception:cool:

That is still a respectable price you got. Major Surplus had the ceramic filters for a decent price a while back. Don't know if they still do. I think when I bought them they were a C-note, but I saw them for less later.

Too bad about K-C and the Mini. Hope your pal understands exactly the sacrifice you are making for him...LOL

Yours in Nuclear Mini-gun bursts,
Mike
