Hello!
How do You think, which folder is the best choice for self defence and for my job. (I am a K-9 officer. Customs drug searching unit. From Europe.)
I can`t choose between two models:
BlackHawk MOD CQD Mark II Knife 80-4 Part Serrated and
Microtech SOCOM ELITE Clip point serrated blade.

Thanks for Your answers! :)

Both good choices. I have owned both. Microtech is not currently making knives so you would have to find a SOCOM Elite on the secondary marketor a dealer that still has one in stock. If it needs repair you might run into a problem. I like the newer Elite framelock models and would probably prefer that over the plunge lock of the MOD CQD Mark II. The Blackhawk / MOD is probably a little heavier. I still keep a MOD CQD I in my automobile. The CQD Mark I is too large to carry but the Mark II seems about right. I don't know which one I would choose. Both are comparable knives. Blackhawk has had a few quality control issues so I would closely check any knife I might buy from them. Otherwise either knife will work.

I would consider a partially serrated Bradley Alias I or II framelock as well.

I would take a look at the Benchmade Rift. I think it would make a fine folder for your needs. Of the 2 you have to choose from I like the Microtech better. I just dont know how long it would take to get one repaired if something would go wrong because they have stopped producing knives for now. I like Benchmades and think the Rift would be what you would want. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

Benchmade Rift looks very nice!
What do You think about Kershaw Spec Bump 1596, or Kershaw Zero Tolerance (ZT) folding knives?
