Best Civilian, Gunting

Interested in hearing what you guys think is the ULTIMATE Civilian and Gunting blade choice. I'd think the Civie should be serrated and the Gunting plain. Right? Wrong? And what about that pesky combi blade?

Gunting....PlainEdge.

I think that the Civvie would be more "useful" with the fully serrated blade and the Gunting more versatile with the PlainEdge blade.

I've got two Civilians and one Gunting.

That is the way I have 'em.

Spyderco serrations are not saw teeth..they cut like lots of little razors..
Thats great for self defense..
I designed the Gunting to use a 50-50 edge..might as well have a touch of both..
If I have access to a Spyderco Sharpmaker then it's combo or serrated.If I'm in going to be "in the field" for an indefinate amount of time..with a single stone... its a plain edge cause its easier to sharpen....

Well, believe it or not..Spyderco has just stopped making 50-50. edges on my Gunting and it NEVER made full serrations..
I think 50-50 was best.. 80%-90% full would have been outrageous..
They now only offer plain edge...
I don't understand this at all...

I'm working on it..
maybe I'll get it done just for my orders @ least..
