I was hoping to get everyones preference on blade maintenance products.
I'm referring to corrosion/rust prevention/cleaning items.
What's worth buying? What should be avoided?

Thanks

I use the blood of my enemies to wash my blades.

Also I use my bicycle degreaser then take a clean lubricant to it. Seems to work quite well.

I use Green Works all-purpose cleaner when my knives need general cleaning. I have a big bottle of Goo Gone for tape gunk and other non-water soluble substances that end up on a knife. For carbon steels I like to use Burt's Bees chap stick instead of oil--it lasts longer and it is food safe.

Submersion in warm water & dish soap is pretty effective. Use an old toothbrush to get into nooks & crannies. Rinse well and put the knife in the oven at its lowest setting for 10 minutes or so. Lube & blow out the excess with canned compressed air (over a garbage can is smarter, I learned the hard way).

I use drug store mineral oil for food prep knives just because it's nontoxic and won't go rancid like veg oil does. For general purpose knives I've been using Rem Oil but I'm not in love with it. It seems to turn gummy over time. Been thinking about trying something else, maybe BM BlueLube.

For general dirt removal I flush my knives out in hot water along with using a pipe cleaner. For gooey stuff such as tape residue I use rubbing alcohol. After flushing, I dry with a towel, then sometimes use a heat gun to dry the cracks and crevices. For lubrication, I use a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil on the pivot.

For lubes i use Tri Flow as a maintainence lube and when i take my folders apart i use Lubriplate, i also use lubriplate on all of the engines i build, some being in the territory of 15,000$ and up. cheers, Kris

i was previously using blue lube cleanser but i know that's not its actual purpose (although it does seem to be effective).
i'm currently searching for something that's intended for corrosion/rust resistance.

thanks for the responses and keep em' coming.

Wow, blade maintenance goes in the Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment forum! What a concept.

I use a Tough Cloth to protect the blade; Blue Lube Cleaner to clean the pivot; and the best lube I have found so far is Blue Lube.

Put it the sun for about 20 minutes and the put froglube on and let soak in for 30 minutes and wipe off, foodsafe and soaks into metal, American made by ex Navy SEAL!

For rust prevention, this stuff ROCKS !!! Available at your local John Deere dealer for around $9 a can. On a knife-a little goes a long way.
