Well, I can't seem to find a used ASHBM so may end up ordering a new one. Is there a certain coating that lasts longer then another? Some of my older Busse blades had coating that took a better beating them others. Is this still the case or do they all wear pretty even.

Also, what's been the avaerge wait time when ordering from the Busse store? Thanks everyone

Satin , comp finished /and or stripped IMHO , all coatings wear , I prefer a naked blade and being that INFI is pretty resistant to rust naked is the way to go

The new coating seems to wear pretty well. I haven't had any flake off at least. My two newest heavy users, 1111 and 1311, wear very well. It's pretty impressive.

I used to have a FFBM that was stripped. It did do pretty well and cleaned easy. Stripping it may be an option, but I have never done one myself. Might be time to give it a shot.

The more crinkly the coating, the more noticeable the wear. The black crinkle coat is the "classic" Busse coating. When it wears it first smooths, then wears away from the edge (or chips, depending on your use).

Newer coating colors like the tanker gray and jungle green don't really have the crinkle so you don't notice the first phase of smoothing.

I would like to see the smooth ceramic coating from the late 90's brought back. It was tough stuff.

Sage is the toughest I've used.
