Best Combination of heat treat and steel EDC

So I have two opposite end of the spectrum with a Schrade survival in 8crmov that you cud beat with a hammer thru wood and it wont break, that of course dulls fast . And a brittle Kershaw in 20 cv that I just broke that stays sharp forever . Opinions on best steel heat treat combo brand , for everyday flipper . I get that there are trade offs here .

best for what?

I'm really liking my cruwear shaman but I wouldn't take it out in the gulf fishing with me, I'd take a native 5 in lc200n or a spydiechef instead.
