I was in search of the PERFECT do it all knife (chopping & cutting) but after reading many threads, I've learned that one doesn't exist.
However, I did learn that the majority of you said that you would rather have a small knife (small jobs) and a small hatchet/axe (chopping).

So with that being said, I was curious as to what you think would be a great reliable combo.

In this thread I see the Mora 2000 with the small hatchet combo, which I like the looks of, but have not been able to find it.

I've used the seach option with keywords such as "wilderness set", "hatchet knife combo", & "axe knife combo" but have been unsuccessful on results.

I'd prefer a matching set but I would definitely consider a mix-n-match if it meant a better combo.

Thanks guys

Ragweed Forge used to sell the set and the individual pieces but only has the knife now. You could email Ragnar about whether he will have the hatchet again, but you may not get a reply till he reopens in August.

As for mix and match. The canned response to this question is a Mora knife and a Wetterlings hatchet, but there are several combinations that will suit your needs.

I don't recommend them,but Gerber has a knife/axe combo
with the knife in the handle for about 30$.

After reading a bit, I think I've decided on a Mora 2000 and a Gransfors Bruks WildLife Hatchet.

Is there a company that carries the 2?

I don't know about the knife, but that is one quality hatchet you'll have 4 life.
Happy camping!!!

I would also recommend a Mora. I have the carbon steel "military" model with the rubber green grip, very nice! As far as hatchets go, you can't do much better than a Wetterlings for $30! Go for the medium hunter (14" I think), I've 2, and they are great!
