I would like your opinion on what would be the "best" to complete my "kit".
Just need help to put me on the right track according to your experience.

It's for camp work / fishing / just be in the woods for fun, etc.

1- SAK Climber
2- ?
3- 18" Ganga Ram Khukri (well, I don't have it yet, but it is coming this week :) )

So I have a SAK and the Khuk's Karda for light cutting and the Khukri for heavy work.

What would fit the best between those 2? I tought of a bowie, but how long?

A 4-6" fixed blade would be useful or a good full sized multi-tool. I'm sure you will get lot's of suggestions as to makers.

I would say a small mora type knife as I heard some people don't like the kardas coming with your kurki.

Let me step through this....

You have small and Uber-large covered.

Lets call small the 3 to 4inch range.
Let's call Uber-Large the 10" to 18" range.

I think you are looking for something in that magical 6" to 8" range.
Something small enough to wear on a belt, but that isn't so large it dangles to your knee.
Something that can slice and do light chopping.

A price range would be helpful, from your exisitng knives, I'll guess you are looking in the less than $100 range? Pardon me if I am wrong.

The Ontario Tak or the Ontario Rat-7 are both good choices.
1095 carbon steel, and they have some heft to them.

The Becker BK-7, lower in price is also a good 7" blade, with some heft, although, some people aren't keen on the handles and grip-feel. Ad the micarta scales and you are good to go with the BK-7.
In the same range as the BK-7 you will also find the Ontario Spec Plsu line-up. This line-up now has many selections. In keeping with the 6' to 8" blade length, I'd look at the entries like their SP19, SP17, in that blade size.

If you want spend a chunk of dough, something like a Busse Satin Jack would be wonderful. But, you are in the $300 plus range.

Good analysis man.
Ontario and BKs were in my toughts, I also considered good old Ka-Bar (1214).

Should I go more for a 6-7" or a 9" blade?

i think 9" is getting on the big side of things.
You have that huge Kukri, as long as you always plan to carry it, that is what you will reach for when the big chopping needs to be done.

If you didn't have a Big-boy already, then yes, a larger fixed to handle chopping and clearing would make sense.
Or, if you said "Man the Kukri is too much to hike with, i want something smaller but can do some chopping" then maybe a BK9 or BK1 would be the ticket.

Everything I have read says that 7" is the good all around optimum do-it-all length. I got the Rat-7, and after that I have to agree with that theory.

I always say 6" to 8" just to give people some breathing room, and so they aren't looking for "exactly" 7" knives.

My USMC buddy swears by his Kabar. they are 1095 steel, so, it comes down to your wallet and what feels good in your hand.

Good luck.

There is some great info, thoughts and mods posted all over this forum. I have a number of the BT&K and would figure a BK2, 10 or 7 would fit your needs.

Check out the Woodlands Tools post below for Mods to both the Becker Sheaths and Sheath Kits.

Below are (top to bottom) BK2, 10, 7 and 9 are undergoing/starting some mods....I didn't care for all the angles and black powder coating.

I just received an Ontario Knife Freedom Fighter and waiting for there longer Bowie and then a Marine Bowie. I only have the Freedom Fighter which is about the same as a BK7 but I don't feel as stout. It does appear that a little more time was taken to grind the blade but it just doesn't have the HD tool use feel of the BT&K. I like the plastic grips on hte BT&K over the molded rubber of the Ontario Knive also.

But I didn't pay much at all for the 3 Ontario Knives either off eBay thinking they would make nice progects some day...$24.00 for a piece of steel already ground/heat treated, a gaurd and pommel makes of a great knife kit to modify.
Note, the Ontario Sheath is more suited to Airsoft use than any real hard use and not well thought out in my opinion.

big custom-- very nice looking blades there..... i've been thinking about getting a rat-5 lately..:)

I would say living in the northern softwood forest as you do in Quebec, keep the SAK, get a small fixed and find an old double bit hatchet, not a big axe but a small oldtimey double bit hatchet. The old fur traders and first nations people spent their lives in the woods, that is what they carried. learn from experience.

There are some great suggestions here, I fill the gap with either my TAK-1 in 1095 or my Ranger RD6 in 5160. The RAT5 wouldn't be a bad thing either. RD6 pictured.

An affortable BlackJack... tempting.

But I'd go more for a 7'' blade.

My actual choices:
BK7 (while there are still a few)
Ontario's RAT-7
Ranger RD7
Kabar 1211

(is it the right place to post this or I should go to "general blade discussion"?)

Cybrok, It looks like you are in the ballpark, Good reassonable list you have there.

The BK7's sheath is not top-of-the-line, but, it does have the accessory pouch. I got my BK1 a Trading Post Supply.

I have the RAT-7, in 1095 steel, it is good all round knife!
I would suggest the Rat-7, in 1095, straight blade (no serrations) for a good all rounder. It is much more comfortable in the hand than the Becker line.
I have the BK1, so, I am not a becker-hater by a long stretch, I just happen to really like this Rat-7.
