Becker necker inverted up high on inside of calf. It fits the 'tdi ankle rig' (only 2 screws match up, but it's secure). The knife has a very tight fit in the sheath - I really can't see it coming out accidentally.
And before anyone replies - "why not just wear it on your ankle" : To get it out you would have to pull up your pant leg then lift the knife up - waste of possibly critical time. For me it's simply reach up and pull down. (The sad part is - to get at it for self defense purposes you may have to drop to the ground and act like you're a cowering little wuss as you pull it out! - LOL).
Any comments or better ideas?

lol - I knew it was coming... I hate having stuff in my pockets, and I don't want it on my belt where everyone can see it either... (I figure that replie's coming next)

I guess that would work great when you're wearing your formal evening gown.

Pocket carry or if a small fixed blade a horizontal carry kydex or leather quick draw sheath.

For self-defense?
A Colt 45 springs to mind.

Rolling around on the ground trying to get your knife into action sounds...odd. A folder would be a heck of a lot faster to deploy and would not require rolling around on the ground to get at it. If you simply must carry a fixed blade knife for SD, the best plan I ever heard was to wear the thing strapped to your thigh and slit the bottom of your front pocket so you can reach in to grab it.

Help me out here. Getting a knife out of an ankle rig is too much trouble, but reaching higher up to your calf is OK? Are you wearing a kilt? :)

I heard of the thigh/pocket idea and I think it's awesome. I'm just curious as to what holds it up? The calf muscle bulges and prevents it from sliding down... I'll have to try that, though - It's definitly a better idea if stays up.

you mention "wasting critical time"....

try a krydex neck sheath.

if it takes u longer than 2-3 seconds to draw the knife, then its more of a last ditch knife then self defense

Your calf method is "best" if you favor comfort over quick deployment. Its fine if you do, but examining one's carry methods reveals one's priorities.

When concealing a gun, I have ended up with pocket carry. It allows me to dress however I want, it is far more comfortable (to me) than IWB, and I can keep my hand on the gun and no one knows the difference. Other folks favor different carry methods in order to gain higher capacity, larger caliber and so forth. But it all centers on what your priorities are.

Keep a waved folder in your pocket. If you must carry concealed, don't tuck your shirt in.

Yet another thread crying out to be in W&C.

(Or at least prac tac).

What's the difference? :p

My philosophy when it comes to carry is to carry where it's comfortable. Don't try to think of different body cavities to hide it in, just put it where it's the most comfortable and forget about it.

But then again, I have no concern for defensive carry. I just can't see how you would rather have something strapped around your leg than in a pocket or on a belt (I can't even wear a watch because I don't like things strapped to me).

To each his own. But I prefer comfort over all else.
