Hey guys,

Just looking for opinions on CR Fixed Blades for Camping/Hiking. Which would you recommend?

Thanks!:)

I dont personally own one...yet, but I think the sable IV looks like a really good all around camp/hike fixed blade. This is the model I have had my eye on for some time for this sort of thing. Just my .02 though, the other fixed blade owners here who have some experience with CRK fixed blades might know better...I'd be curious to here their opinions as well.

answ29,
I think the answer depends somewhat on what you want the knife to do. For basic camp chores the aviator or any of the 5" knives seem like they would work fine. However, if you want it to also be able to be used for chopping and heavy baton work I'd recommend either a Project 1 or 2. They're a great blade size without being overly unwieldy and tough as a tank.

i would concur with the sable iv.

i would avoid the ones with 4" handles for general camp chores. i have owned a few 4" handled ones (including the aviator which is a really nice knife)...but have found the 5" handles to be more comfortable and useful

If you like serrations then go for either the 5.5" or the 7" Green Beret. If you don't like serrations then go with the Neil Roberts Warrior.
I have one of each of the GB's and 2 of the NR's, as well as a Tanto1, and shadow III.

The reason I like the GB's and the NR's is that they have a flat micarta handled handles. They just feel more like a knife in my hand then the round checkered handles of the other 1 piece knives.

Find a dealer who has them and try out the feel for yourself.

Ciao
