As the title asks... What was the best deal you ever scored on an Ontario knife?
I will start with my own, which may have been my best ever deal on a brand new knife purchase. It is an Ontario knife that was made to be sold through the TFD (Task Force Dagger Foundation) with all of it's proceeds going to help US Special Forces Veterans in need. It was a total win win situation, a great price, and the money going for a good cause. The price was only $25 plus s&h (maybe $35 total). Anyhow, the deal was good enough that I added three of these knives to my collection. One is shown here in the top of this display picture. It is basically Ontario's Marine Corps knife made in stainless steel (black powder coated), and having a more polished leather handle, brass guard and pommel, and decorative plastic spacers. The sheaths are all tanned leather. Good stuff at a ridiculously great price 😀

I like my toys, as most boys do (even us grown up boys). But, I also like a good deal. I mean, money does not grow on trees, so I definitely do my shopping around... Trying to find good items, at good prices, from good sources. In the end, it allows me to buy more toys 😀

One of the other very cool things about this great score, is that it was another fellow Bladeforum member that shared about this deal on a post he made, giving many of us a chance to get in on this deal. The TFD Foundation is still offering this knife, and still at a great deal, but now at $75. Again, still a good deal on this awesome knife, just not the absolute steal it was priced at before. All proceeds still benefit the same great cause 😀
Btw, for these knives to have been priced so low by the TFD Foundation, it's because the Ontario Knife Company actually donated these knives to them to help them in their cause... So kudos to both TFD and Ontario for doing this Noble thing 😀

I thought I had an Ontario RAT 7 for only about $68 on walmart recently. After a month of waiting, emailed walmart's customer service and found out that they had canceled my order based on some bullcrap reason. (I'm thinking they just didn't want to sell it at that price.)

So the best deal I ever got for an Ontario is probably $19 for a Utilitac II Joe Pardue folder. Terrific little knife, AUS8A, made in Taiwan. Very serviceable and comfortable in hand. I might have ordered more of those, if I was a folder guy, which I'm really not. They're still available for around $25, so it's not so much that I got a huge discount, it's just that it was the best "bang for the buck" kind of thing, you know. I can't believe these are so affordable, when they are great, high quality knives. I have no idea why people pay over $100 for a folder, when you can get these for so little.

Shopping around and getting a good deal is half the fun of being a knife knut, IMO. Getting two new toys instead of one, for the same amount of money. Can't beat that!

If you're including the Old Hickory line, and "pre-owned" the best deal I ever got was a 7 inch cleaver and a butcher knife, both with little to no previous use, at a yard sale, for $1.50.

If those don't count, a Ontario 499 from a Army/Navy Surplus store, so many years ago I don't remember what I paid.

Both on ebay, a gen 2 sp-53 and a ranger ns-9, each one around the 50$ mark

I carry my Utilitac 2 a lot. Used it in the woods a few times for small stuff. I like the beefiness of the handle and scales. Bu,t to be totally forthright here, I think the blade could have (or maybe I would prefer) a wee bit thicker, to make it a true heavy duty workhorse. That being said, bang for the buck is so true. It has a lot of bang for little bucks.

So, yeah, my Uttie 2, was the best ever score on an Ontario blade.

I picked up one of the last black micarta night stalker 4's from Knifecenter for $56. I thought that was pretty special. Love it!

I'll be honest, I think the standard price of my Rat-2 is unbeatable. What a tremendous value for a product based on what you pay for it.
