what was the best deal you got on a Knife or sword?

I got a black dragon samari Katana with silver engraved handle and a ruby, topped off with a speckle scabbard for $10 from my sisters boyfreind.

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread or not. If you are asking what was the best deal we have gotten on any knife then this thread should probably be in the Blade Discussion Forum. If you want to know what was the best deal we have gotten on a custom knife then you are in the right place.

Personally, I figure that every custom that I have gotten was a good deal. If not I wouldn't have ordered them. I have no idea which one I would consider to have been the best deal.

Without a doubt--a custom Darrel Ralph EDC which I won in a contest run here at BFC almost 2 years ago. The contest--buy a Camillus EDC and you were in the drawing for the custom EDC. Absolutely the best "deal" ever. The knife is a gem and so is the fine gentleman who made it.:)

If I were to list my Top 10 deals ever. Every one of them would be from right here in BFC's Exchange, either from a fellow member or one of BFC's dealers.

$35 for a brand, spanking new in box Spyderco G10 Police from an actual retail store!

They were running a 70% off deal.

This was this old man's everyday price, but it was a helluva deal to me. A couple of weekends ago, I went to a local gun show and picked up a custom knife made by a fellow named Ed Jones from Oklahoma. Beautiful curved spearpoint, mirror-polished, 440C stainless and imaculate grind-lines. Came in a great leather sheath and had rosewood handles. Paid $75 bucks for it. Next show, if he's there again I'm going to pick up a few more of his knives.

Best freebie - I once found an SOG Powerlock at the top of an ice climb in Banff Alberta, complete with nylon case.

Best deal - I bought a small Sebenza from Tom Mayo that he had reconditioned, reprofiled and sharpened for $250.00.

One of the earliest purchases I made after discovering the forum was from Pres in VA....it a small Sebenza, and was the most I had ever spent for a knife. Looking back on it, I was a new guy...and could have been taken advantage of. I was treated fairly and with consideration. I look at that deal as the first of many good experiences with forumites. As far as I'm concerned, that one was one of my best deals.

My best deals have come from Himalayan Imports. I have six HI khukuris now, and each one has been a phenomenal bargain.

A few years ago, I bought a NIB Gerber BMF from a pawn shop, for $50, including sales tax...I guess that was my best non-freebie deal.

I suppose it'd be a $525 Szabo RAD I'm buying from a forumite for $300. I swear I'm gonna buy that man a beer as soon as I finish paying for it.

Lets see I got a cold steel SRK from a pawn shot for 15bux and later at the same pawnshop I got a CS magnum tanto II for 10bux. I bought a CS vaquero grande for 29.99 and a gerber yari for 49.99 at smoky mountain knife works. I've picked up alot of deals from this old guy at the flea market he seems to have a ton of discontinued blades from the 80's I think he had a shop at one time or another, he always has great prices and he knocks off a few bucks off the top for regulars.

good condition pre 1964 puma white hunter. traded for "made in china" folding tanto and $1.50

Best deal I've gotten so far was in '96, when I picked up 2 Buck Nighthawks (w/o sheaths though) for $5 each from a sporting goods store back home. They had never been used...were display models I was told?

Thought is was a pretty good deal?

Picked up a Buck Odyssey w/cabon fiber scales and ATS-34 steel for $29.99 at Wal-Mart, last one in the case.

Picked up a BOSE receiver tonite the kind you use for the huge surround sound system.. anywho.. $75.00!!!!!!!!!! WOW:eek:
