I'm worried about a family member who is having trouble keeping records of her illness. We need to know when she feels the worst/best, when she has attacks, what she's eaten, how much she slept, what medicines she actually took etc.
She doesn't seem able to write these things down consistently. I am wondering about using a dictaphone with a time stamp -- ideally one that could connect to a computer with voice recognition software.
Is there a device like that out there anywhere?

Hello,
From your requirements I would suggest a digital dictaohone that uses Smart Media or Flash etc. They often come bundled with software to connect them to a PC and although I dont know much about them I would think that a time stamp would be no problem.

You could take a look at the big brands for business like Sony, Phillips, Sanyo, Olympus etc.

try this

Dictaphone

Hope this helps

the software on that one you posted is probably pretty good, i tested a copy of it a long time ago and it was useable. you just need to make sure she knows how to use it. let us know what you pick.
