As a newcomer to collecting Buck knives, I'd like to know what people consider to be the best Buck knives that have been discontinued. And is there any way to know if a particular model is about to be discontinued? Thanks.

Paperstone Ecolite 110 and 112. I have a few and this is one that was on my dresser this morning.

I can't/won't say anything about the 110; but the 112 Ecolite was on my want list for years... and I'm very happy I finally grabbed them a few months ago. Better late than never!!
Good catch! If you like the Ecolite and you like 110s, you'll like an Ecolite 110 😜. It was my hunt for a lighter, more pocket friendly Buck locking folder that sent me to the Ecolites some time ago. Then the Slim series came out but by then I had moved away from pocket clips and thumb studs (only have one such knife now), and I'd already solved my problem. The muted green and plum red colors were also a draw. The feel of the Paperstone handles is strangely attractive, too. It's almost warm, but neutral, unlike a polished wood. It is smooth but not slick. It is unlike plastic and yet not quite natural. I just can't pin it down.

Maybe I'll start a thread on those.

I'd love to see them come back with paperstone options. A few years back they used it for a Boone & Crocket labeled 300 series (301, 303, and 309. Sorry Hickory, no Lancer). They're some of my favorite slippies.

Back to the question at hand, I'd also love to see the return of the 305. Those jigged covers...

Smooth Bone handles. A BassPro exclusive. My BP never had them in stock, I heard about the BP/Cabelas merger, panicked and ordered them online. The next day they were no longer available on line. In store only and I suspect sold on clearance.

I’m glad I got the set wish they’d come out with more of them
