Best drop shut action?

I have a feeling this tread will be full of Shiros but just thought it would be fun to hear people’s responses. What production flipper that you’ve handled do you think has the best out of the box drop shut action?

Aren't Shirogorovs considered mid-techs or customs? What do you define as "production?"

Assuming you're including at least mid-techs, Jake Hoback makes some buttery smooth actions. Very positive and authoritative deployment and once the detent is broke, fall shut closure.

Curtiss F3s are customs, they're also very smooth.

Overall, my Reate K2 has the smoothest/most seemless fall shut actions of any of my knives.

This certainly shouldn't be a significant metric of "what makes a knife," however, I also consider it when appreciating the refinement of a piece .

If you're including midtechs, then the Tashi Rowdy HiTech. Up there with the best actions I've found on a non-custom. Not my photo:

For me, the ZT0600 - it has a heavy blade and great action. No nudge needed.

ZT 0561, which is from a collection of Reate Benchmade Spyderco Hinderer and more importantly 10+ ZTs.

Shirogorov, ZT’s......462,452,561,392, out of the box. I’d imagine most any bearing knife can be tuned to have the blade free drop.

Freeman 451, drops shut so smoothly and because it's a button lock your fingers are out of the way of the blade
No lockbar just like a pm2. To me it doesn't really count but they do indeed drop shut the 451 is a flipper while the pm2 is not.

Not flippers but definitely production - I have two para 3s and both have super smooth drop-shut action. On one of them if I hold the knife parallel to the ground and really jam the lock open, the blade will swing freely back and forth through perpendicular no less than 7 times before inertia stops it.

I don't think a Button lock or a Compression Lock really count/are all that impressive, since you essentially keep the lock disengaged the whole time, a frame or liner lock that drops freely after you disengage the lock and there is detent pressure on the blade while it falls/slides into the closed position is what makes the difference. (Not knocking the locks, I like both, just saying for the sake of argument they don't fall into the same category of -impressive action- necessarily)

And I agree the 0462 is really good, although I have come to prefer something more smooth over finger guillotine lately. (A lot of my ZT's drop/fall shut, so they got that dialed it)
