Best Emerson for Self Defense within my budget?

I have about $150 to spend on my first Emerson for self defense. It will be carried on duty (LEO). I have found the CQC-7, 8 and Commander within my price range. I have read where many say that the Commander is sometimes not the best choice for SD (good for slashing but maybe not so good for stabbing). Any suggestions? Should I look at another model besides the above mentioned? Thanks

At the right dealer, you will be able to buy a cqc10 for about $140-$150. It has a real nice feel in the hand, perfect size for multi tasks and razor sharp. It is one of my favorites from Emerson.

I'd take a look at the HD7 or the Comrade (CQ 12?) both are framelocks.

A good linerlock will do just fine for every situation a knife was designed for, cutting and slashing. The hole once you get used to it is just fine. I would rather have a thumbstud but, oh well. I have a 7 and a 8 and will have a 15 when released. The 10 does it all.

the 15 would be perfect for you...sharp stabbing point of the cqc7 and the awesome edge of the commander...
behold the 15

The Karumbit (aka K-bit) is great for EDC SD. Emerson has both a folder and fixed K-bit. The karumbit is intended for one function, self defence. It is not a utility knife but it will open packages with ease. I am sure you could find one within you budget.

BTW nice pics of the 15. I can not wait to get my paws on one.

if i was a LEO i would carry either a SOCFK, CQC12, CQC13 or CQC15, the '8 is always cool too, i personally would rather have a SOCFK than a CQC7, i like the handle better, i've never been a big commander fan myself,

Anyone else have any opinions on the 15? I actually found it for much less than 219. So I guess that it is between the 8 and 15.

If you're not going to use it for anything but self defense then look at getting a persian. It's wicked sharp and good at stabbing and slashing.
