So this new year I'm going to "try" not to buy any new knives and try to enjoy the ones I own(spent more than I should have this year on blades ), but I after receiving my last paycheck for the year I have about $30 extra and want to finish up my collection with the best budget fixed blade I can get(not a folder). Stainless preferably, under 15" overall, around 10" overall preferably, no mystery steels please, want to know exactly what I'm buying. Oh and I have all the cold steel, Mora, and condor models I want around that price range...I think. Any ideas/suggestions welcome, thank you all very much!

Well, Mora and Condor come to mind. Also Tramontina and Imacasa for machetes.

If you shop around, a Becker BK14/BK11 can be had for about $30...

AG Russell Hunters Scalpel
AG Russell Woodswalker
KaBar Little Fin
Cold Steel Pendleton Lite Hunter
Marttiini Lynx
AG Russell Bird and Trout

Mora has a host of options, for $30 you could get 2 and still maybe have some change.

And just in case you haven't got em yet, Cold Steel Kobun tanto, Bushman lineup, and their new Peace Maker 2 can all be found under $30, or you could get any 2 of their Canadian Belt Knife, Pendleton Lite Hunter, Finn Bear, Peace Maker 3, and/or Roach Belly for under $30 total...could maybe even swing 3 of them if you didn't mind buying used. They also have a lot of "neck knives" for under $30, the Mini-Tac line, Secret Edge, Hide Out, Best Pal series, Super Edge, etc.

Imacasa and Tramontina Machetes are cheap, $30 should get you at least 2 of those...they might be a bit bigger than what you're looking for though.

In case you don't have them yet, the Condor Rodan, Bushlore, Bushcraft Basic, Bolo machete, Eco-Survivor machete, and their various neck knives(Windfang, Tangara, etc) can all be had for under $30. Right now at Knifecenter you can also find the blue handled version of the Condor "Mountain Knife" for $20(for the 12'' blade) or $15(for the 8'' blade), normally they run around $35.

If you check out SMKW, they sell Marbles machetes really cheap, between $13-20. They're ugly as all hell with that orange coating, but they're actually made by Imacasa so they're good blades.

Cold Steel's GI Tanto (I think they're releasing a GI Bowie soon) is, in my opinion, the single best value for a fixed blade in the entire industry.

Get a Mora Classic #1 and carve the handle to make it YOUR knife. If it must be stainless, buying a Mora Allaround TopQ will also keep on-half of your $30 in your pocket.

Look at the Ontario SP1 Marine knife. 7" blade, kraton handles, lanyard ring, good sheath. A couple bucks more than your $30 gets you a lot more knife...usually around $35 on Amazon, free shipping. I think mine is as good as my kraton K-Bars.

I have to smile that your first post says you have all the Mora's you need, then several guys thoughtfully suggest their favorite Mora's.

I guess it says a lot for Mora that they have such devoted fans.

Read his whole post. "I have all the Condor, Cold Steel, and Moras I need...I think.". In other words, he's not certain, and is open to suggestions just in case he missed any.

Not sure if you've gotten a knife yet, but I found, and was pleasantly surprised with a Kershaw Fixed blade Skyline. Great little knife, and Made in USA. Of course, these are discontinued, but there may be a few out there.

I was lucky enough to get the orange one for $25 @ Cabela's in the "Bargain Cave" with damaged packaging.
