Can you guys recommend a very good fixed blade knife with a bone handle for hunting?

Much thanks in advance for your thoughts!

It's D2 about 7.5" blade and 5 " handle. It's one of a kind. I made it a few months ago.

Queen cutlery makes a few that you might like. They're also made from d2.

Another option is to keep an eye on the custom fixed blades that are sold on the exchange, there's some very nice stuff offered there.

Take a look at Bark River Knives (and others) at KnivesShipFree. They are pretty good knives in A2 or occasionally another steel. Lots of great designs and stag is usually an option. Stag really isn't bone however. It really depends on your budget. AG Russell rountinely sells knives made by Bob Dozier and stag is sometimes an option. Dozier's knives are mostly made in D2 steel and he is the king of D2.

This one works pretty good. It is horn handle though.

Sorry Hugo, it is actually antler, horn comes from antelope and cattle, including buffalo and is never shed. Antler is shed by members of the deer family moose, elk, whitetail, etc, etc

Bone and Best,

I would go with a Randall Model 19. All nickel silver hardware. Pricey but worth it if you plan on keeping it for a long time.

Yeah I realized I called it "horn" after I posted. OOps!

I'd keep an eagle-eye on the For Sale By Maker forum section. Lots of great knives posted there every week. Here's one I picked up a while back:

I'm also a fan of the Light Hunter series from Queen Cutlery. Reasonable prices, beautiful bone, and most have D2 steel (the small Trout Knife is 420 Stainless).

These three were made by Tim Olt. The handles are stabilized, dyed Camel Bone. Steel for the top knife is S30V, the bottom two are in CM154
