What is the best flashlight I can get for an EDC. I want something BRIGHT, adjustable spot to flood, waterproof. I would like to know what the industry considers the "best". Oh, and what is the approx. pricetag?

I carry a Surefire 6PL. It's a great light but the beam is not adjustable like you are looking for. Light output is 80 lumens. Runtime is 11 hours on two CR123 lithium batteries. It is water resistant but not water proof. It will handle heavy rain or being dunked under. Just don't take it diving. Cost is around $80. Surefire is widely regarded as making the best flishlights or, as Surefire likes to call them, illumination tools.

I would go with a cheaper Flashlight like a Maglite and put the money for a better gun and forget the Hi Point.
IMHO

I have a couple of maglites, and my glock model 23 40 cal will never be replaced. I was going to buy the HP to help a friend out of a bind.

:thumbup:sorry I was taking your threads the wrong way (misunderstood).:)

This seems to be a highly regarded flashlight, the Fenix L2D CE.
While I don't have this particular model, I've had a few Fenix lights, and the quality is there, along with the performance. Definitely stay away from incandescent lights (lights that still take bulbs)- you want an LED light for its efficiency and durability. Surefires seem to be highly regarded by most of the flashlight enthusiasts (yes there is such thing and plenty of them!), although don't buy into Surefire's marketing hype without also considering the input of some of the more critical and experienced flashlight users, such as this thread here.
Size and weight would be prime considerations for you, since you want an EDC light. I have a Surefire L4 and it is quite light and pocketable, although I could be quite happy (or even more so) with the aforementioned Fenix L2D, since it has awesome output and runs quite efficiently on standard AA batteries.
This is a topic you might find to be a lot of fun researching, and there are a surprising number of good websites where you can find information. Have fun!

After much thought I have decided to get both a Fenix L2D CE and a Surefire 6PL. One for my EDC, and one for my survival pack. The information you guys have provided made it possible for me to make this decision and feel very confident about it. I will end up swapping the two out, I'll want the Fenix for night hiking and such, and the Surefire for work.
Thanks

I've used a few lights, and right now I pretty much only use an Arc AAA or my Streamlight TL-2 LED. The Streamlight may not be the coolest light around, but it is made in USA, cost ~$70, and is equal or better than any Surefire I ever had... (That being an E2, E1 and a L1 lumamax... the new SF G2 LED looks like a GREAT light... N E hoo.. the TL-2 LED from Streamlight has REALLY done me right!
