What do you guys think is the best flipping knife out there, custom or production?

I'm not really into flippers but maybe if I find the right one, I might consider getting one. One of the best I've ever handled was a Buck Rush. Though I'm sure there's better ones out there.

Boy, that's a tough one. It's all so subjective. I honestly couldn't say what custom flipper's the best. I can say that, for the $, the Kershaw Groove isn't bad. However, I'd say that the best "production" flipper I've tried is the DDR Maxx Q1A. Although it's not a full production as I believe they call is a "mid-tech" knife. It's very similar in size to the Groove, but lighter & with better steel. Admittedly, it's also a bit more expensive.

If you want a good quality production at a moderate price i would recommand a Boker Plus Direkt;

It is a manual flipper no assisted opener .

I would look at RJ Martin Knives.

+1 R.J. make a kick ass knife.

On a budget the Kershaw made zing flips almost as well has his custom zing and it is only $40. Awsome knife for the money. I have yet to run across anything that flips better anywhere near that price and that includes AO blades as well..

Kershaw Zing is definately the best flipper knife I' ve ever had, it' s actually even faster than the Leek, which is assisted.

I agree with RJ Martin. The blade shoots out like an AO. As far as factory I'm looking forward to Kershaw's new OD1 (go over to Kershaw's forum and take a look), and one of the best buys is the Leek if you want an AO.

I would say one of the Rick Hinderer knives.

I like Hinderer knives they have very high quality F&F and are built super tough but every flipper that has passed through my hands as well as the one I still own flips like crap. I highly reccomend Hinderer knives just the non-flipper models.

I have a couple of Todd Begg Glimpses that are fast , but the Les Voorhies Model 7 IKBS is in a league of its own!

J.L. Williams seems to be the master of the technical flippers at the moment. I have never had the pleasure of handling one of his customs, but his production Kershaw Ener-G (the kick stop mechanism) and OD-1 (the overdrive mechanism) are outstanding. Both of those flippers are multi-part mechanical flippers that allow the flipper to sit inside the handle scales once the knives have popped open rather than stick out like a fixed flipper. Both flippers are extremely fast and reliable and the knives they are used on are both fairly inexpensive.
