What is the best folder pivot you have used?
Currently I am using the ones from Halpern and they seem alright but I'm always looking for smoother more precise ones.

I've had some difficulty with the pivot pins from Halpern. They seem oversized and the OD tolerance seems inconsistent. Now maybe I have gotten a bad batch, but I like the ones from KnifeKits.com as they always have a great precision finish and they resiste wear very well. No doubt that they are expensive but you get what you pay for. ;)

Rick Hinderer makes some AWESOME pivots... out of 440C that have a killer tolerance and finish!

I used to buy hardware from him way back before he started making tactical folders, its awesome! the best I have seen. You can even get them from him heat treated the last time I checked....

Between Rick and Reese Weiland I think those are the 2 best pivots in the industry that I have used.

Call Rick, see what he has and give um a try... perfect tolerance EVERY time.

I can't say I've tried everything out there but I have very little trouble with the ones I get from both Jantz supply and from Knifekits. I use almost exclusively the 3/16 diameter ones sold as "1/4" folder pivot pins" on my folders with the 3/16 diameter shaft or barrel and 1/4" screw heads for hex head from Jantz or for torx from Knifekits similar to the one on the Calypso Jr I upgraded in my signiture line.

It depends on the application as to which one I use. If you are concealing them under handle scales use the Knifekits ones. The ones from Jantz only have a screw head on one side and the non screw side sticks out a ways. To be honest though I've never had to use loctite on the ones from Jantz at any time for any folder I ever made.

The double head type barrel pins give me fits at times from screws wanting to unscrew themselves and I most always loctite those to keep that from happening. I have also noticed this on other makers folders in my collection using that same double head pivot.

I've used the Jantz ones quite a bit over the years and it is available in stainless, nickel, or brass. It is usually my first choice whenever I make a folder but I do wish they'd start offering it with a torx head on it. The good news is the screws from Knifekits that are for torx style wrenches fit the Jantz pivot so I have swapped them a time or two.

Knifekits.com has the better selection for sure.
Very few supplier's have the same pivots and accessories as knifekits.com.
Most supply houses have the same thing as everyone else.
WWW.Knifekits.com will be adding over a dozen new designs soon. The thumber designs will be over 24 soon.
They will be sweet because the other suppliers will not be able to get them. We dont carry cutler rivets. We do carry our OWN handle bolts that are the real deal.
We even have aluminum. Buy from the leader no the follower.
