I'm looking to upgrade my edc and I'm looking at theDoug Ritter Griptilian (RSK Mk1) knife or maybe the Spyderco Caly 3. Anybody got any suggestions for a great edc knife about that size. I currently rotate my Spyderco Delica stainless with an Ontario Rat 3.

ill be the first to say both of the best answers out there:

The benchmade 710 or the spyderco manix

These two knives are probable the best out there for edc folders. Both have good steel, both have good ergos, both are built like tanks, both feature g10 handles, both have strong locks, and both are from reputable companies

The Griptilian and Caly3 are both great knives. I wouldn't hesitate to buy and use either as my EDC.

For some more suggestions though, I recommend taking a look at the Benchmade 710 D2 as well. I have heard nothing but praise for this knife. It'll probably be my next purchase.

If possible, try to find a brick and mortar knife shop in your area so you can handle some of the knives you're interested in.

My vote goes with the mini-Rittergrip ... unless you are comfortable with the larger blade in your pocket, then go for the fullsize Rittergrip. Great knives!!

I really like the Ritter Grip or Mini Grip! But, you can't go wrong with one of those or a Caly 3.

The 710 is great, but I would recommend against D2, unless you get a coated version. I have had some problems with corrosion on uncoated D2 Benchmades, even with diligent oiling. A 710 is also much bigger than the Caly 3 or the Ritter Grip- it has a 4" blade.

There are a lot of good folders to be had for less than $125. The Yojimbo is a great choice for a 3" blade, if you can find one. The Tasman Salt is another excellent knife in that size category, and you can get 2 for that price. Another great choice would be the Benchmade 940. It's a superb knife, light and elegant, with the smoothest Axis lock out there.

The Ritter Grip gets my vote. I find that it is easier to open than the 710 as the thumbstuds are little further out from the body of the knife when it's closed.
I rarely carry my 710, generally grabbing one of the Grip variants instead.

My vote is for the 710 also. It's the one knife I keep coming
back too. I haven't had any corrosion issues with it but I do make
sure to dry it off quickly if it gets wet. I believe D2 has 11% chromium which
is only a few % from being 'officially' stainless.

Anywho.... the knife rocks. You'll be surprised how light, strong and
well packaged it is. It's one of my knives I never get tired of and
am impressed each time I use it.

I have a mini-grip. My only complaint is the handle is too small for
my hands (medium sized) and on heavy cutting the handle digs
into my hand which becomes painful after awhile.

Doug Ritter Griptilian and Caly3 is quite different in size. Caly3 is much closer to mini grip. So probably, first you need to decide what size you need.
IMOP Caly3 is perfect EDC. I carry this knife for almost a year almost every day and I love. I just took it out of my pocket to cut my lunch.
Caly3 is the beauty queen and work horse at the same time.

Switch it up a bit and make things interesting...

CRKT M16-13 series (non-Zytel) - great beater, my EDC

Benchmade Model 530 - thin, light, nice size blade, Axis Lock, decent steel

Kershaw Random Leek or ZDP-189 Leek - latter is my other EDC

Kershaw Spec Bump - just wicked cool
