I'm looking to buy a high quality rugged folder for my wife with a blade length of 3 inches for my wife. Blade shape is not too important as long as it's a one-hander and mainly of linerlock design, and has a pocket clip. My wife likes tactical looking folders and would easily carry any of my larger folders, except she feels they're too big. I have several folders she likes, but of course, they're mine. :D

Anyway, I've been looking at the following:

Buck Mini Strider
Emerson Mini-B CQC7
Benchmade 705
CRKT Mini Crawford/Kasper
CRKT M16-12

Which would you recommend and why?

I would definitely add the Camillus EDC and the William Henry Global Series to that list. I would have said small Sebenza, but it looks like it's a different price range than what you're shopping.

Both knives are a lot of quality for the $, I think the EDC is downright cheap.

The REKAT Pioneer at 3 inches, or the REKAT Carnivour Cub at about 3.25 inches would both be good choices, as they are both very strong folders.

I know it isn't in your list, but I think Dennis - Shootist16- has some with MOP handles. They're frame locking and they're price almost equals the ones you have posted.

The BM 705 is the winner so far. But if you're willing to go non-tactical, the Spyderco Lum Chinese is awesome.

I'll through in a vote for the Atlantis. Really classy looking tactical.

I would also look at the Outdoor Edge Paragee.

JMHO
Emerson CQC7A Mini
Great grip characteristics--plenty of serrations (this is the true selling point to me). Built like a tank. Wonderfully utilitarian blade design. Literally disappears in the pocket yet has enough blade for Self-defense if you know what you're doing.

Might want to read Chris Caracci's comments about non-liner locks in the "Urban Jungle"

1. Small Sebenza BG-42 (small well made and TOUGH!)
2. Mnandi BG-42 (A real gents folder, well made!)
3. Camillus EDC 154CM (At this price get two! I did! Strong, well made and very cool. Not as good as above or as tough, well made etc, but a LOT cheaper!)

My first choice would be an Emerson Mini-CQC7B
Second choice: prolly a Camillus EDC
Unless of course you can afford a Sebenza, in which case it is THE way to go.

When I saw Paul's name as the last reply before clicking on this thread.....I already knew you'd been given the correct answer;)

I'm making eyes at a Microtech Kestrel (which also meets your criteria) right now, but I doubt my small Sebenza will let me buy it:(

I go along with Ferrets suggestion, the Microtech Vector model is a unique beauty. It’s a must have knive!

Get the one you like best
that way if she doesn't like it you
will. BTW I don't have a wife so I'm
not speaking from experience.

William Henry Kestrel(sp?), nice
little knife, I have one and love it.

Kershaw Chive, inexpensive cutter,
I see one in my future.

El Cid, if you can, take your wife to a knife shop or a gun store and just handle the available knives. There are so many good ones in the 3" category that you cannot possibly go wrong if you know enough to recognize quality.
