whats the very best assisted opening knife available? i want one with a 3 to 4 inch blade, i currently have a sog flash 2 and i like thde feel of it the size but basically it is not good enough for me and i resally like assisted opening knives thanks for any input

Don't know what your price range is, but right now, I'd say the best large AO you can get for the money is a Kershaw G10 Tyrade.

I agree about the Tyrade..... the 0300 series are great next..

my price range is unlimited looking for the absolute best, nothing unessesarily fancy but the best practical knife available, like an AO sebenza would be perfect if it existed

inmop, the assisted action on the flash 2 is one of best if you ask me.

some other AOs that i like are:

kershaw whirlwind
crkt mini my tighe
kershaw blur
benchmade apparition g10 handle
crkt hissatsu folder
kershaw tyrade g10 handle

there are also some really good knifes that use the flipper, they are not AO but can be opened just as fast. some good ones are:

kershaw skyline
kershaw od1
kershaw junk yard dog 2
crkt m21 aluminum handle

I would highly recommend the Benchmade 615-2 Mini Rukus Axis-Assist, One of the best if not the best...

skyline needs some wrist force to flip out, od1 is fast. But skyline is still an excellent EDC knife.

the lockup on my flash was ok when i got it and after 6 months of medium use its terrible, not happy with it

I'll second or third the Tyrade, as well as the ZT0300 lineup. The 0300's are excellent AO's and built like tanks

Another interesting knife that is VERY comfortable is the Lone Wolf Harsey D2 (double action). It's basically a hidden auto that can also be used manually if you desire. Not exaclty an "AO" but a very nice knife if money is no object.

Also, you can get different blade shapes than you see pictured. You just have to inquire about them.

Definitely the Best for the money but don't forget the BM580, definitely one of the smoothest AO knives featuring the axis lock and a safety lock.

The Best folder is the folder you carry in your pocket the longest. :)
