I love camping, just I need the right knife for it. I am open to anything you think is good, as long as it is 1) folding knife with a 3" blade (no larger, but can be smaller), 2) Has to lock up tightly (obviously), and 3) Has to stand up to abuse. Please help.

Ps. I like all my knives to be 3", so they all could be carried and I just like that length.

Why a folder instead of a fixed blade? If i was going to be doing bushcraft I would want a fixed blade.

^^this, but for a folder try an Opinel if you just want to cut and carve stuff. If you want to beat the living daylights out of it try something from coldsteel's triad lock range. Not really bushcrafty but they are tough.

Since you don't have a price limit, go custom section and pick your favorite maker dude.

Svord Peasant, it's beyond easy to clean after, and IF you needed to thump on it the way it's set up you won't "break" any lock.

Spyderco TECHNO. Thick 0.177" blade-steel of CTS-XHP, 2.55" blade. 6" total length; titanium slabs.
You can hit it with a brick and it will smile at you. I've had a few. I have one NIB that I look at occasionally because the Taiwan-made Spydercos are of outstanding quality. I don't carry it as I'm such a casual user. For your use? Perfection!

Maybe it's just me. But 3'' folder doesn't associate with bushcraft very often. Personally I will take fixed blade every single time, not even Strider SNG/SMF. If it has to be under 3'', I'd rather take a multitool like Leatherman Charge. More versatile and still has a decent S30V blade.

3" folder that can take a beating, and you won't get mad if you lose it... The Kabar Dozier... I would personally recommend the orange model with the thumb hole... Great for a camp knife.

I like my Buck 110 for a pocket Bushcraft knife, but it's 3.75" blade is too long. It's 3" bladed sibling, the Buck 112 Ranger - a slightly shrunken Buck 110 (Same blade thickness.) may be ideal. If money isn't a problem, the Benchmade 755 MPR (m390), top and bottom below, is a 2.9" bladed moose of a knife - as is my Boker 'Pipsqueak' (S35VN). My plain BM 755 is a frequent pocket carry - and has proven itself on hikes. I got deals on them... but I still could fill my pockets with Buck 112's for what I spent on the trio - and I got deals. (I have a big home mortgage now... no more sharp, bright, or loud things for Stainz!) For your use, the Buck 112 Ranger may be ideal!

Also, consider the Spyderco Native4 in S30V model C41BK or the Native5 in G10 & S35VN model C41G5. Both are sturdy lockbacks with blades listed at 3.1, while the edge length is 2.5" and the grip-end to tip is 2.9".
