Which do you think is the best folding saw? Survival Instructor Ray Mears recomends the Sandvik / Bahco Laplander. I'm also considering the Felco 60. I'd appreciate your views...

My personal favorite is the Sven Saw. It's not quite the folding saw design you have pictured, but the Sven's design cuts more like a bowsaw, which is very efficient with a minimum of effort.

This is a topic that comes up from time to time. Normally I'd advise you to do a search, but, as a basic member, you can't do that now.

One folding saw that got high marks (even from Cliff Stamp, if I recall correctly), was the Zeta Pocket Saw .

I'd love to have one, but I don't think they're available here in Italy, where I live.

I have the Bahco Laplander, it cuts quick and is very solid construction, you can also replace the blades, Ray Mears knows his kit:)
But don't buy from his site, do a search on google and you will soon pick one up half the price.

Thanks Bushblade,
Got one from Tool Up Ltd for £16.85 as opposed to £30 from Ray's site.
Do you know if the other Sandvik Bahco 396 blades fit the Laplander? - I couldn't find spare Laplander blades.
Regards,
Steve

no problem mate:)

I got mine from tool-up too. I am not sure about the blades, I know the Woodlore site sells them, but have not needed to replace the blade yet. Certainly its not something you need to worry about for some time as the blades are very hard wearing.
Could be worth giving tool-up a ring and asking though.
