Which is better for suburban edc carry the HEST or the RC3? I have a HEST now

I bought it a few days ago and havent used it because Im going back and

forth about keeping it. I really dont need the tools on the HEST....I just wish it

was a little bigger. I know the RC3 is about 1/2" longer overall and the blade

is about 3/8" longer.

Which of the 2 knives do you edc or which would you edc?

I dont want an Izula.

well personally for an urban situation, i think the izula would be better, i own an ESEE3 but i think it would be too large to pull in public, at least around these parts. it also depends on what your local laws are. where i live the izula is the only option. YMMV.

Idk why you dont want an izula but if you get the handle scales for it the feel of the knife is alot better.

They is pretty good edc blade.

I have a hest and izula and the izula gets carried everday. It is just about perfect.

you'd have to decide which knife best suits your personality first then take into account local laws ect.I edc'd the HEST for a while. It is a great knife.I edc'd an ESEE-4 for a while too.Either way you can't go wrong.Good luck.

I edc both HEST & ESEE 3 if only for suburban carry I'd go with the HEST.but you have to get a 3mil also you just have to,or you'll be left wondering!

Clockman.

Here are some things to consider.

What do you intend to use the knife for? "Urban" is what the DPx H•E•S•T is all about. Prying, smashing, concealing etc. The RC is a thinner, longer blade. the HEST has a lot more handle and lot more grip when things get sweaty.

What is the legal blade length in your neck of the urban jungle? You might find the RC3's extra blade problematic (depending on which end you give up your knife with :)) 3.5" is the usual legal length. The DPx H•E•S•T comes in at 3 1/4" well within most legal restrictions.

You already carry around the most important survival tool that comes with every DPx H•E•S•T... your brain :)

Enjoy whatever ESEE knife you choose!

One good thing about the HEST for suburban/urban carry is the carrying capacity of the handle compartment. Right now I have a firesteel (http://firesteel.com/products/FireSteel-Mini.html), a $20 bill folded, 4 benedryl (for allergic reactions) and 4 advil. I figure I could add in a few yards of fishing line as well. Just another tick in the HEST column

Thanks for the Great Comments about your knife Robert. Ive decided to

keep my HEST and use it as a edc.:D

I doubt you will regret it. After I found a way that was comfortable for me to carry my H.E.S.T., I have not been without it. Great, capable blade.

I put some pics on the web that might give folks a better sense of what world I work in and what went into the DPx H•E•S•T (and any other products

Maybe Jeff or Mike can figure out how to put the pics on here. Seems like we have the same discussion when we get into DPx H•E•S•T vs (INSERT KNIFE) here. As you have seen from Jeff's and Mike's extensive time in the bush and what they put into a knife we share a passion for top quality and unmatched quality of customer satisfaction but the applications are different.

But just like boots or guns it doesn't mean you can't own the perfect knife for the perfect application!
