Best Forge Design For Heat Treating

Greetings,
I'm in the process of designing and building a forge for heat treating blades. I plan to use a cylindrical type, and have picked up a piece of pipe .... 8" x 20" long.
I've looked at dozens of forges, and from what I've seen, they all look like they'd run too hot to be used only for H.T.
Most of the designs have their nozzle(s) aimed into the chamber, directly towards the workpiece. I need a setup that would not deform the blade in any way.
Would anyone have an idea for a design that wouldn't concentrate the flame directly at the steel?
'Preciate any help,
Steve

Put the burner in at a tangent to the circumference and with a slight angle towards the rear of the forge. Charlie Edmonson has a nice design that is a modified Fogg heat treat forge. Heats up fast and holds temps spot on.
