Well, maybe not a gadget in the strictest sense but it is somewhat gadgetty....Lasik vision correction for my eyes. Not having to deal with glasses, knowing that in a disaster my weakness won't be my dependence on corrective eyewear, and just the gee whiz factor that overnight my vision went from about 20/350 to a bit better than 20/20 makes this one of the best things I ever spent money on.

My only drawback is that my once excellent, almost microscope like close up vision has gone to the dogs. I used to be able to see the dot screen on four color printing on glossy magazines with the naked eye. Now I have some discomfort reading, but not enough to need a +1 pair of reading glasses, which is the lightest that you can get in a drug store or without having a prescription filled by an optician. For detail work though I do need to wear the +1. Oh well, I gladly swap that for my new sharp distance focus.

Find a good doctor though, don't skimp on money on this because it is your eyes after all.

I was just reading an article about a new laser process that will reflect light through the eyes using mirrors granting 20/10 vision. The results will then be fed into the laser and it will automatically fix your vision beyond normal. They say it will happen in 2 years. I will try to find the magazine artical online and post it.

I completely agree about spending money for good vision.
Every few years I get a couple new pairs of glasses, with all the features.
The pair I'm wearing now has been my favorite for the last 5 years. They cost $150 or so, and I've had them for more than 1500 days, so it's about 10 cents a day for something I use almost constantly.

Wow that Super Vision thing sounds cool. I would definitely try something like that after it gets a good track record going.
