Best glue or epoxy?

I was wondering what in your experiences are the best glue or epoxy for repairs? I find Lepage speedset epoxy to work well. It hasn't broken due to shock or hard abuse when I reattached a handle to a stick tang. Crazy glue is a bit too delicate, it breaks from time to time.

among epoxies there are two basic kinds:
  • 5-minute
  • high-strength
They are well named. The high strength does provide a stronger bond, but you have to keep the parts clamped up for a few hours.

The difference in type is much more noticeable than variation between brands.

I prefer epoxy to cyanoacrylate. Epoxies have better peel strength.

I've also tried Gorilla glue. It's a urethane. Do NOT get it on your hands. I like it for fixing items where the two pieces to be glued have gaps. So far, I have not had any issues with the results.

Try Gorilla brand "super glue" cyanoacrylate.( not the polyurethane) It's the only glue I've come across besides epoxy that actually stuck metal to metal and anything else together really well.

check out System III epoxy. they have a few different types for different applications. its all UV resistant and water-proof as well as self de-gassing so it won't dry with bubbles in it. they have between 15min (which is great to work with) to 24hr hardeners and you can use most of the hardeners with all the different kind of epoxies.

i use one of them for making some of my custom Micarta. i play around with just about every epoxy i come across to see how it works out for knife applications and System III is one of the best so far.

hope that helps! :)
