This is what I had for lunch today. A pile of tender thin sliced roast beef on crusty bun with melted provolone liberally drizzled with beef broth. (Includes spices, salt, garlic, simmered onions)

Tender, hot, salty, mmmhhhhh.

Last Tuesday I had potato and leek soup followed by tarragon roast chicken breast on a bed of new potatos, onioins and gravy with vegetables. mmm

Lat night I had a London Broil marinated in sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger and garlic, grilled and sliced thin with grilled onions and asparagus and a side of steamed rice.

You guys are killing me. For lunch, I had a bagel somebody had left out in the kitchen all morning!

This weekend I'm going to make chicken and red potatoes baked with garlic and maple syrup. One of my favorites.

Last night: gamberi e carciofi (jumbo shrimp with artichoke hearts and oyster mushrooms over polenta), insalata di spinaci (spinach salad), linguini cardinale (linguini in a cream sauce with lobter), and chocolate truffle cake at Filomena in Washington, DC. Tonight I had turkey sandwhich on the airplane. Despite being served at 35,000 feet, it was still quite a comedown.

James, my sandwich guy at the local Safeway made me a kiiler turkey, ham, uenster, mayo, mustard, cranberry sauce, onion, and tomatoes sandwich. It must have had at least 1.5# of meat and 1/2# of cheese.
I also cooked pork loin with sauerkraut, granny smith apples, a pear and some wine the other day, and godamned if it wasn't delicious!

My favorite rice dish , ham fried rice [hamou-gohan ] was a dish I discovered in Japan,my last duty station. Quick & easy & 'll stick to your ribs better'n hoe-dodger bread . Last time I made it a marine [deceased ] friend ate the whole mess excepting my platefull.Haven't made it in years but it is a great cold weather dish. Tonight we're having family in for my chili. I made 1 & 1/2 gallons & it'll be gone in 2 meals. I cook because I'm a bit handicapped & a man has to have a purpose for existing .

Went to our neighbors fall party. They have a big to do in their barn, with a blue grass band etc. Everyone was donating money to victims of Katrina and Rita, so the theme was New Orleans. Lots of gumbo, jambalaya, barbecue, pastries! Heartburn was worth it!

Man, I just finished dinner about 10 minutes ago (beef, garlic grilled zucchini strips, and 'new' potatoes) and that STILL makes me salivate! :D

Fresh Fish on Saturday that I caught that morning - Filleted, deep fried in a light beer batter served with a garden salad. Shared with some fine friends and washed down with a few icy cold beers. Doesn't get any better.

I had some really good carnitas last night. I even persuaded the bus-boy to bring me out some the "picamas" salsa that's reserved solely for the amigos.

Tonight I had a filet mignon, cuban salad, and garlic bread.

Man, I need to lose this belly!!!
