Hello everyone. I've narrowed my wilderness axe selection down to two models of Gransfors Axes but need your help deciding between the two.
First is the Mini Belt Hatchet and second is the Wildlife Axe. If you could only chose one of the two, which would it be and why. Thanks for your help.

Mini Axe is 11 oz, 12" vs the 1 lb, 13" of the Wildlife. Depends on what you're going to use it for ... If it's a pack axe for game use (where ounces count) and general light camp use then the Mini Axe. For bushcraft, basic camp and trail use then the Wildlife. The prices are dramatically different.

Might also want to look at the Wetterlings, Roselli and Knives of Alaska (this was my choice in S7 steel, I love it!). These are also excellent choices and are very, very well made as well for, in some cases much better prices. A lot of people think the GB's are overpriced. Your call.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I would be using it primarily for game use. I'll check out the others you recommended.

I use a mini for game: Rabbits, waterfowl, etc. Works great. It is also a surprisingly good wood chopper but still doesn't compare with its larger brother for that purpose. My mini weighs 12.8 oz. (with sheath) on my company postal scale. Less than several of my 4-6 inch outdoor knives that have heavy leather sheaths.
