Hey guys I'm kinda knew into knives and I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best grease or oil for a folder. I hear a lot about nano and crk grease or the finish line stuff. Anything else or which one would you guys recommend. Its a zt 0566 deassisted. Thanks in advance.

I have found butcher block oil with beeswax to be excellent for my ZT flippers.

Isn't "butcher block oil" simply mineral oil?

Yes. Over low heat add some flakes of beeswax to the pot with some mineral oil to make the paste. I've never tried it on a folding knife though. It seems like it would collect dirt and junk up. I could be wrong, but I would go with something a little more fluid than mineral oil with beeswax. Just answering your question on the butcher block oil

I was looking through my gun cleaning kit the other day and broke out some frog lube on my knives, never been smoother

Knife pivots are not very demanding on lubricants so you can pretty much use any oil or grease you want. I've always just used whatever gun oil I have on hand which for the past 7-8 years has been Slip2000 EWL. It's reasonably priced, colorless, odorless, nontoxic, doesn't attract much lint/dirt, and protects from rust quite well. FrogLube and TufGlide are also very good nontoxic lubricants.

Finish Line fluorinated grease. I use it on my 0550, 0301, 0200 and 0350. My 0560 is dry, no lube on the bearings. The grease is expensive, but a tiny bit goes a very long way.
I've read a ton of great other recommendations, but only tried this grease and CLP. I'd imagine that everyone has a favorite.

Windex and mineral oil 5:1 ratio (that's the formula for Benchmade Blue Lube) cleans and lubricate

Where did you get that information? Benchmade Blue Lube is the same as Prolix Gun Lube and they claim on their website that it's bidegradable and non petroleum based.

My brother in law is a Biochemist double Phd, he analyzed it and that's what he came up with. He is one of the head research scientist for AstraZeneca

Nano oil for my kvt bearing knives. They flip like they're riding on a cushion of air.

Is that the Benchmade Cleaner or the Lubricant? The windex/mineral oil mix would make sense for a cleaner but not for a lubricant.

Cleaner, not the lube, shoot I should have clarify that, but that's what I been using on all the bearing pivots, something light and keeps them clean

I use BreakFree on all my blades, fixed and folders, for lubrication and rust prevention. After losing a screw on my Sebbie, when I got the new one (excellent service from CRK, BTW) I put blue Loctite on all the screws and now lube the pivot occasionally with BreakFree, no disassembly required. Just a drop lasts a long time.
