What do you think best grip in all manufacture made over 5" blade knives?
Randall M12 bowies?
Cold Steel?
Buck Nighthawk?
or Strider's cord wrap grip?

Buck, no question. Several years ago I heard a government contract was put out for bids--on the blade only. It seems someone had done a study on the human hand, and that grip design was deemed the most ergonomic. If memory serves me, Buck lost the bid, but adapted the research on the handle into their line of knives.--OKG

Mad Dog; the knife of champions. A little known fact is that Mad Dog will make a knife to fit your own hand. You just get the details from him about the positions he wants your hand in, and fax him the tracings. There is no charge for this service. Walt

IMHO, the ideal handle should be custom fitted, since no two hands are alike. All my customs are tailored ergonomically to the individual user's hand. Much of the security in a grip is derived from other factors as well. Proper balance will reduce pressure on the fingers, especially the forefinger, and make the grip more secure during rapid movement. Providing support for the hand both at the front (guard) and the rear, especially the rear, helps keep the knife the knife in your hand even during hard contact.

Here's my candidate.
