I don't know the answer but I keep seeing the term thrown around on you tube videos and elsewhere. I understand what it means I am just wondering if someone can be credited with coining the usage when it comes to knives.

I don't know if I have ever heard that term to be honest. But it sounds like something nutnfancy would say...

It was Crocodile Dundee who coined the phrase. The full quote is "That's not a high value knoyfe. <pulls large bowie> That's a high value knoyfe."

Mantis.

I've never seen it used by any top of the line companies and knife makers. I'm no expert, but it's my impression that CRK, e.g., doesn't use phrases like this.

nothing fancy coined it, according to him. However, it has been used by knife enthusiasts before nutn' was a gleam in his copilot's eye.

It's been a term about anything you can buy since way before youtube, so.... no.

and of course CRK doesn't use it, because it doesn't apply to CRK knives. It usually applies to knives with a high value FOR THEIR PRICE. So, basically anything someone sees as inexpensive but very good.

The term high value knife has probably been around since the first high value knives was made, likely several hundred years ago.

It would be like asking, who coined the term 'watch tv'.

Never heard of the term before. Never watched more than 14-15 seconds of a nutnfancy vid which may explain why.
