Hi,

I'm interested in purchasing a handmade neck knife as a gift for my father in law. Does anyone know of any really unique yet practical ones? I'd prefer a custom made one, rather than a mass production knife.

Any ideas or recommendations would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

I really like Deryk Munroe's Talus, Gerry McGinnis' Model 1, and Tom Krein's TK-1 as neck knives.

These are all highly in-demand makers, so availability may vary.

TK1 would be a nice choice, I'd really like to get one myself.

I don't know what size you might be looking for, but one knife that I can tell you is unique and practical is the Todd Begg Tree Frog. It's been my go-to necker ever since I got one a short time ago. Below are a few pics along with link to a thread I posted here doing a mini-review of the knife from a passaround a few months ago in case you want some "hands on" info about it.

Good luck with whatever knife you choose, it's a nice gift to give.
