I looking for a thick water proof, puncture proof, and heat resistant tarp to use to sit on. I will be laying it on a snow covered log and I will be sitting on it so it can't just be water resistant like some tarps are.

I say heat resistant because all of my tarps will have holes burned through them from little embers shooting out of the fire. Now my military bivy seems to be good enough, but I don't exactly want to buy a used one and cut it up(or maybe I do if it's cheep enough). I only need a 2ft by 2ft piece so it's likely I will have to cut down anything recommended. I am thinking of something of canvas on one side and rubber on the other.

Any recomendations.

spark holes are going to be a problem any time there is a fire. My suggestion would be a bit of closed cell foam, will insulate as well as keep the water away. It might get some ember holes, but its cheap, and thats easy to deal with.

Most brick and mortar military surplus stores have piles of salvage truck covers. The rubber coated canvas is very durable and a section like you describe wouldn't take up much room or weigh much. I bought them to throw down on pool decks when we did renovations. Dirt, rocks, broken concrete piled on them to keep the concrete deck clean, shovel off into wheelbarrows, hose it off. I would pay $10 for a ruined cover (6x size) and cut it into 4x6' pieces.

A piece of Tyvek is pretty durable and light. I've also seen folks use a placemat to use as a sitting pad/mat.

There might be some aramid cloth with a rubber or polyurethane backing out there.

Closed cell foam is the way to go; you need the air standoff to keep prevent the cold log absorbing your body heat.

I would do the closed cell approach.... perhaps a couple "seats" that are used for hunting might work. They aren't expensive generally.
