Best Hunter 2015 thread?

I will start by saying that I have thoroughly enjoyed the "Best Bowie" of the year threads over the past couple of years. I enjoy seeing all of the submissions from the best makers out there, and all in one thread.

It got me to thinking that a "Best Hunter" of the year thread would compliment the best Bowie thread very well. It would be a place to recognize all of the beautiful hunters that have been shown on Bladeforums over the past year. Hunters can be as beautiful, complex, and detailed as the greatest Bowie out there, only they are smaller.

What do your thoughts on this? What should the entry requirements be?

There should be a best folder of the year award, too, don't you think?

I see how there could become too many categories. However, I believe that the hunter is one of the most popular styles of knife that is being made and shown on Bladeforums.

Let's not leave Daggers out. ;):D

We have a "Best Hunter" competition over on the CKCA Forum.
Mike Quesenberry won last year.

As are folders. In fact, at shows, on forums (including Blade Forums) and on dealer sites, there are probably more folders than all fixed blades combined. But I never suggested there could become too many categories. I was simply suggesting that there are other categories of knives that might also benefit from a knife of the year contest.

Go for it! Suggested entry requirements 1) it's a hunter and 2) made in 2015. :)

If this one hadn't won, I think I would have lost all faith in humanity. I think a Best Hunter thing would be great on BF.

Wow, what a beautiful blade!

I would be happy to start the thread this year, perhaps with some guidance :) I guess I could just copy the rules right out of the Bowie thread when it gets started.

I agree wholeheartedly. Especially if linked together, with Roger in his role as the arbiter. It would be a natural.

That works for me as well. If it's too much work to do both threads, I would be happy to help out.

This is not the thread. I will start it up when the best Bowie thread is started. If I recall that is usually near the end of December.

Yes, I think it would work best running the threads separately but simultaneously, with you overseeing the hunter thread.

So let this present thread serve as a heads-up to the forum to get those hunter submissions together!

I'll give you a heads up a few days in advance of starting the bowie thread .

Sounds good Roger. Thanks.

I already have a couple in mind to nominate.
