I never thought technology would get ahead of me, born in the early 70's I had a lot of advantages like being the first kindergarten class when the Commodore PET computer was introduced to schools, was on local BBS (precursor to the internet), & was on the bleeding edge of technology until cell phones became something people used to the point of addiction.

When smart phones no longer allowed full control of the technology (in the sense that you have apps that can listen, see, share without you knowing), I stopped trying to keep up.

Now that I am close to retirement, I want to grab a few apps to sell everything that I don't need because I want to eventually get rid of the house and just have a small piece of property or rent as a home base while we travel.

What image app is the one you think is best to post pics specifically for knives to sell, and does anyone foresee what will replace Instagram?

I can post pics directly here, but I trust a lot of the members here as good men and women that could advise me on the safest, least intrusive apps for selling things and possibly promoting whatever business venture I get into in retirement.

Thanks for anyone willing to share an opinion.

I have not done an exploration but I tried imgur because it was free and well known and I do not have to upload to public and participate in the social side of it. I can just go to each photo and copy the URL. The Interface is a bit odd though and I couldn't even find what I uploaded at first (change the word "public" (it's a drop-down) to "all" to see your posts. Then click on the post and go deep to each image to copy the URL with .jpeg at the end. Also the posting on BF takes some playing. But I click on "image" and the then the infinity (link) symbol to paste the link. When you post this way you just have the images
show directly without the white border slideshow thing. No hurt trying a few free ones.

I've only used imgur on BF and have not found any reason to choose or try another. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks Rick, that's the one I am currently using. I have about 50 high end knives I want to sell and before getting involved want to deal with just one site.

If anyone belongs to other forums where there's a different preferred option besides Imgur, please let me know.
I have a lifetime of stuff that I want to sell, and some (like the traditional archery gear) have forums, but others I am going to have to look for the best way to do it.

Ebay is terrible now, I sold something for $750 and should have made $450 profit. Instead, after all the fees and taxes (I still don't get how they tax both parties, guaranteed Ebay is going to eventually get caught on the tax scam they are pulling) and shipping, I made about $175. Never again.

I use imgur also. It's frustrating to use on my phone, maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but I usually take the pics with my phone, wirelessly transfer the knife pic to my computer, then upload it on to imgur. In imgur you'll hit 'share' and have a choice of 4 different share links. Use the one that says 'BBC' next to it for a nice full screen pic.

Check the tech support section (where this belongs btw). There are a few threads on this with lots of options

I use postimages.org

I initially bought Gold membership because of the "ease" of posting images....

That never seemed Easy, on my devices. I found postimages.org and continued to use it through All This confusion.

*Edit
This picture was added via postimages

(I finished the chopper from earlier, next one is going to be Bigger)

I dont much like to recommend people sell knives at other places very often, mainly because I like to see my people here get the best selection, however if you've tried here and have a hard time selling some things, you can post the on Reddit under the 'sub reddit' (group): r/knife_swap. It looks complicated in writing, however it's very active and just as easy as here. Things go quick there if you have them for a reasonable-good price. However if you want to post them for inflated type prices, it's not the place, you'll get all kinds of hassles. Ebay's the one for that. I havent sold a knife in a long time, however when I have in the past I've used here and Reddit.

This is more for the other stuff I want to sell. I would not sell my knives anywhere but here, I know that if I offer a fair price it will sell with minimal idiocy and possibility of scam.

I like Postimage.org. According to their “About” page it was designed expressly for posting images to message boards. It is easy to use, private by default, and does not double as a social media site.

Please take off-topic, buying and selling discussion to PM. A couple of posts have been removed.
