Soooooooooooo I'm heading for the Badger Knife Show in Janesville Wisconsin on Friday with a buddy staying over till Sunday

I've been to this show many times but never paid a lotta attention to the city of Janesville itself. I'm curious about fun, adventurous places there and great places to eat. These are the kinda trips where what happens there stays there so don't be shy. We thought about looking up Speaker of the House Paul Ryan who my friend knows (somehow but I dunno know how) but he might be a tad too busy to join us for dinner.

Suggestions please. I'm heading there Friday morning first thing in my new Ridgeline.................... First road trip for it.

Thanks

Corey

I got nothin'. Far from my favorite part of the state.

IMHO I agree that there are MUCH nicer parts of Wisconsin than Janesville.

Will do Jess..............

I'll be at the show Fri & Sat (I live in Janesville)

I recommend staying away from chains and try some local joints. I recommend:

O'riely & Connway's pub - great irish pub food
Matts Deli Dog House - Chicago style deli dogs & Italian beef
Park City Diner - great little mom & pop diner....excellent breakfasts
Hacienda Real - best Mexican food in town
Jims Pizza - excellent local pizza joint

People from Janesville usually have to go somewhere else to have fun . I expect that they go down to Rockford .

from my Army buddy who is from Janesville

There's not a whole lot in Janesville but guess it depends on what he's into. There's a lot of parks and nature trails. A botanical garden but not sure if it's open yet. There's a place called the Tallman house which is a Victorian mansion that's been restored. Abraham Lincoln even stayed there while on the campaign trail. There's some fun bars downtown on main st. Quotes is one. Time out is another one. Apparently there has been a revitalization project going on in the downtown area that's going very well. I haven't even been back there for about 3 years lol

Basically there's a lot of turn of the century historical sites and areas there. Lots of parks. It's actually the motto of Janesville "City of Parks" lol

I would also recommend O'Riley & Conways Pub. Nice place for a pint and food.

I was at the show today with my son. A very nice gentleman at a table gave my son a ZT knife storage bag. Howard Clark also showed my son and I a miniature blank firing pistol in his case. The guys from L.T. Wright also gave my son a patch. Very kid friendly and lots of amazing work on display.
