What is the best kabar-style knife in your opinion? so far the only manufacturers I know of are Ka-bar and Camillus.. any others?

KaBar. Case also makes a USMC blade. If you wanna get really esoteric, Al Mar Knives used to make somehting called the Grunt (also referred to as Combat) but is is a modified blade shape)

KaBar is excellent for really anything you wanna throw at it for cheap dollars.

I got a Camillus one that someone had reground the false edge into a real one for cheap. I returned it to a false edge so it is sort of ugly and beat up, but it works great and I am not worried about scratching it up at all. It's my "beater" knife and it has taken everything I've thrown at it without fail. I always bring it camping and have used it for everything from cutting food to pounding in tent stakes. The steel sharpens well and I have not had any rust problems with it, even though it is not stainless. Overall a great knife, for cheap, everyone should have one.

Ka-Bar. I've "played" with other companies' USMC-style blades, but they don't seem to have as nice a balance (IMO, the handles have been too light). Mine has done everything I've asked it to do, with very few scars to show for it - just a few marks where the black coating took a beating. They make a model out of D2 as well (more $). Yes, everyone should have one.
