Best Katana in the 100-150 price range

best wallhanger?
Oddly, enough, the Ontario Blackwind (tacti-cool?) katana works fairly well.
For a bit more in the tactical design, consider some of the stuff from Gus Trim (more like 400 dollars).
Example: http://www.angustrimdirect.com/models/tac/attackat.htm
I'm not sure how much the HI katana is... haven't handled it, but expect it to be similar quality to their kukris.
Looking for something at least moderately resembling traditional - not much luck in that price range. Or even double it.

Seeing as you have a Gold membership, I might suggest searching for similar threads.
Also, swordforum.com probably has a few (just a few ;)) threads of similar vein.
here's some fairly hardworking, but somewhat untraditional katana (blades by Gus Trim, handles and furniture are fairly traditional):

The only sword in that price range that I know can be used is the Chen Banshee. It is by no means traditional in any sense but it goes beyond being just a wall hanger and was made for cutting purposes.

I will assume you mean Best Looking. For $100-150, you will only get a KSO.If decoration is all you want, there are several that will do. Please do yourself ,and those around you, a favor and never cut with it.

Why not try out a sword from www.musashiswords.com ?

They have an introductory line for about $70. But for that much, you get real same and a carbon steel blade.

however, the hamon is wire brushed (ick) and the steel, although it's a VERY sharp single bevel blade, is 1045 steel which is kinda soft and may require more frequent polishing if you do anything foolish like chopping trees.

The ito is tight, but it's that shoe string kind of ito, not the smooth cotton or silk on the more expensive swords.

My advice is for $70 you can't go wrong, get one, find out what you like, and then jump to a more expensive model.
