Hey guys,

For Christmas I got an amazon gift card for $200 and I can't decide what to spend it on. I don't know if I should buy one blade for around 200 or a couple of cheaper ones. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Just purchased a ZT0550 and a Ti-Military for around $200.00 each. They're becoming favorites of mine. Can't go wrong with a Gayle Bradley or Para-Military (both around $110-135).

You probably need to be more specific about the kind of thing you are looking for - a folder or fixed blade, what kind of size, and whether appearance, function, indestructibility or uniqueness are most important to you - there's really no need to spend a lot of money on a knife unless at least one of those criteria is important to you.

On another thread, I just recommended someone to get a Koster Bushmaster, which can be had for $205 at KSF (they won't last long, though). He was looking for the ultimate in a hard use field knife with a 5" blade. But if what you really want is a piece of pocket jewelry or a WMD-type chopper, then the recommendations would be very different.

SORRY - just realised you said you have an Amazon voucher. The Koster recommendation is not much good for you then.

Another vote for the ZT 0550! Its an amazing value. Alot of knife for the money.

If you're looking for a folder look no further than a ZT 0550. You simply can't find better and why would you want less?

Fixed or folding?

Fixed : Esee
Folding : Spyderco

Never look back

Good ideas, I could do a folder or fixed blade. I already have a spyderco military and a ZT 200. What are your favorite EDC fixed blades? The street beat looks kind of nice to me, and I also already have an Ontario RAT 3 which is similar enough to the Izula that I think I'd rather try something else.

If you want a fixed. I'm going to recommend the Spyderco Bushcraft knife. On Amazon you can get it for well under 200 dollars, and then you can spend the rest on the Voltron DVDs. Well maybe not Voltron, but you'll have some left over to play with. O-1 steel in a scandi grind with G10 handles, it makes me drool.

Get ya a bk2 and a bk9.........covers bout everything might even have enough for a set of micarta scales
